@Kevin & others: if you receive error ALERT!: /dev/mapper/vg-root does not exist. Dropping to a shell ... it means that you did not perform apt-get install hashalot lvm2 after you chroot'd to the USB drive. Without these programs you will not be able to open the encrypted volume when you boot using the usb drive.

I made all steps from this tutorial, and all worked fine.
But today I wanted to start BT4 from USB stick and when I should enter the pw for truecrypt folder, there came this error:
"Error: Volume slot unavailable"
What does this mean? How can I get around that and can use my secret folder again as home folder (and use my old desktop settings and so on....)?

Hey there,

So I been busy installing backtrack to usb, wanting to run persistence mode however having a few issues. Nothing stays saved, thought It might have been a syntax error so retried the steps. But nothing.

I'm kinda pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. Is there anything else I have to do other than the steps above?

Hey Kevin!
It was great to shoot the breeze with you at Bsides. Hope to see you at the next one!
Thanks for reposting the link. I'm sure I'll be going down that road much more this year. Wish me luck ;) Everyone's baby is the prettiest, right? But I really am sure that SDL is the most important part of the security industry :D

nice tutorial ... but if I run install.sh everything is allright, until I want to launch the partition manager. After the loading screen the partition window appears for half a second and shuts down then. Any ideas about that problem?
